Klezmatics - Possessed
Klezmatics mix jazz, folk, rock and Jewish music into a unique and powerful new sound. This album is one of the more challeging of their many works, leaping from genre to genre with seeming abandon. A core element of the record is the songwriting of playwright Tony Kushner, a self-described `half-baked, half-former, re-formed, dummermann kind of Jew.`
Klezmatics - Rhythm & Jews
Great for your next Jewish party.
Klezmatics - Rise up
On Rise Up!, The Klezmatics once again expand the concept of klezmer music by fusing the radical and the traditional via edgy jazz musicianship, interesting arrangements of traditional Jewish folk songs and Eastern European rhythms, and myriad other imaginative influences. Created in response to the 9/11 attacks, the album is an often somber meditation of loss in songs about deathbed regrets, lost love, and the dangers of vanity and complacency.
La Mar Enfortuna
To discover music that will give such an intense pleasure like La Mar Enfortuna does, is a rare experience. With dozens and dozens of hours of new music I hear every year, I consider myself lucky if it happens with two or three albums.

Life of the Worlds: Journeys in Jewish Sacred Music
The modern-day traditional Jewish music revival is filled with artists exploring klezmer`s Eastern-European roots, but you`ll hear no clarinet and little violin on cantor/educator Richard Kaplan`s Life Of The Worlds. Although these are traditional songs, there is a broad range of the Diaspora represented on his second album, including Afghani, Spanish, Moroccan, and Algerian traditions.
Maramaros: The Lost Jewish Music of Transylvania
I found this CD absolutely enchanting. It is not the usual `commercial` Klezmer music that can be heard everywhere, but a wonderful fusion of traditional Jewish and Hungarian/Gipsy folk. The melodies are both beautiful and subtle, and the voice of Marta Sebestyen on two tracks is unforgettable. The accompanying notes are a great plus.
